UGG Fashion: Do’s and Don’ts
By JenniG
UGG boots may be popular, but how to wear them is definitely a subject surrounded by great controversy. While there are a few fashionable trends, some people believe that pairing their UGG boots with any type of clothing they want is acceptable and – well – we beg to differ.

What NOT to do with Your UGG Boots
Let’s start out with some UGG fashion mistakes, shall we?
- One of the biggest complaints we hear, and one where most people agree, is that UGG boots should NOT be paired with sweatpants or track pants. You may be warm, but you’ll also look ridiculous. Avoid pajama pants, too.
- No matter what outfit you’ve chosen, it’s best to avoid wearing UGG boots to formal occasions. You may have tailored your outfit so that your boots blend in, but UGG boots aren’t “black-tie” attire, no matter what you believe.
- Don’t wear your UGG boots while walking in the rain, mud, or snow. You may think they look cute and fashionable, but as soon as they get wet and dirty they’ll begin to look frumpy and worn out – and your entire look will go downhill from there.
- Avoid wearing UGG boots in warm weather. They may be safe for summer wear because of the thermal properties associated with wool, but wearing boots that look like they’re designed for February in the middle of August is just silly.
What You Should Do with Your UGG Boots
There are, of course, quite a few ways you can wear your UGG boots that will accentuate your style. Whether you have tall UGG boots or short, you can dress them up or down for almost any occasion.
- Match your Ughs with your favorite jeans, cargo pants, or corduroy slacks. Tuck your pants into your UGGs or pull your pants over top. Either way is fashionable. Wear them with skinny jeans and you won’t have to worry about your pants scrunching up.
- Wear UGG boots with skirts, but only if you’re wearing leggings or pantyhose. If the weather is too warm for leggings, then it’s too warm for you to be wearing UGGs, too. Switch to a pair of UGG sandals if you’re desperate for something trendy to wear with your skirt.
- Choose black UGG boots or one that has a neutral color. You’ll be able to wear them with almost any outfit as opposed to strange colors like pink, purple, and green, which are less appropriate for fashionable or professional settings.
- Wear your UGGs with bright colored clothing. Classic UGG boots come in neutral tones, so it’s fun and easy to add complementing colors by choosing skirts, tops or accessories that make a statement.
Be confident when wearing your UGG boots. You may come in contact with a few people who think UGG boots are just plain ugly, but we guarantee that for every naysayer you come across you’ll meet a handful of UGG fans willing to share their UGG fashion tips. Let your creative juices flow!
